Charter Schools - Virtual School Programs
Kanu o ka Aina New Century Public Charter School - Ka Oha Homeschool Program - Harmony Educational Services (Statewide)
A virtual program open to students statewide, the Harmony Ed program through Kanu o ka Aina offers flexible curriculum choices, mentor support and financial resources for homeschooling families. A one-day a week optional in-person class day is also available to students.
Laupahoehoe Charter School - Kaupea Homeschool Program - Harmony Educational Services (Big Island and Maui)
A virtual program offered for students on the Big Island of Hawaii. Students can choose from a variety of curriculum choices that are offered virtually. Students do not need to attend in person or virtually.

Myron B. Thompson Academy (MBTA) (Statewide)
A Honolulu-based virtual charter school provides a financial allotment that can be used for approved curriculum providers or extra curricular activities. Students attend virtual classes.

Hawaii Academy of Arts and Sciences (HAAS) in Pahoa (Big Island)
A charter school based in Pahoa, HAAS offers a number of different blended programs for families to choose from. This includes EdVentures, Seaview School and InDigital. Visit their website for details.
Hawaii Technology Academy (HTA) (Statewide)
Hawaii Technology Academy (HTA) is Hawaii's largest tuition-free, public charter school. There are Learning Center sites across the state's islands, including sites in Kona, Waikoloa, and Hilo. HTA uses a blended learning model, providing students with a combination of face-to-face instruction, virtual instruction, and independent learning. Because student learning occurs at both the Learning Center and at home, an integral part to student success at HTA is a highly involved Learning Coach, or adult responsible for mentoring, monitoring and motivating students’ learning at home-- often times the parent. HTA currently offers their program to students in grades K-12 in the Kona/Waikoloa area and grades 5-12 in the Hilo area.
Kua o ka La - Hipu`u online blended option (Big Island)
Based in Pahoa, this Hawaiian immersion charter school offers a blended curriculum that is online and supplemented with overnight camps that take place monthly around the island. Local tutoring centers exist around the island to support students.

Keystone Homeschool (Waldorf Inspired) in Honokaa (Big Island)
“We provide the children of Honoka’a and surrounding areas with a quality Waldorf education in a rural, and community-oriented setting.We nurture a sense of reverence and wonder for the world and provide solid academic and practical life skills through arts and sciences.”
Hoea Homeschool (Waldorf Inspired) in Honaunau (Big Island)
“This rich homeschool program also includes several specialty classes such as: Wood Working, Handwork (knitting, crochet, sewing, etc.), Ukulele, Drawing/Painting, Glass Blowing, Spanish, Hawaiian Studies, Gardening/Sustainable Living, Form Drawing, Nature Study/Ecology, Culinary Arts, Movement/P.E., and Clay Work (to name a few).Groups currently forming include 4th Grade, 5th Grade, 3rd Grade, and Middle School (although we may be open to forming another class if there is a great enough need). Our site is conveniently located at SKEA in beautiful, historic Honaunau.”“We will meet Tuesdays – Thursdays from 9:00 – 2:35, with additional specialty classes on Fridays. Before-care and after-care are available.Giving each child the individual attention he or she needs is important to us. Therefore, we are limiting enrollment to no more than 10 students per group. Open enrollment ends AUG 19. Enrollment thereafter will be very limited and by special consideration only. Classes begin August 29.”
Ohana Homeschool Cooperative in Kohala (Big Island)
A Waldorf-inspired program for toddlers through second graders that meets in Hawi. Toddlers meet Monday only, Preschool and Kinders Monday through Thursday 8-1:00 pm, and 1sr-2nd grade on Monday - Thursday from 8 am - 1:30 pm. "The Ohana Homeschool Cooperative is located on a beautiful organic farm in North Kohala on the Big Island of Hawai'i. It is a perfect place for families who wish to nurture a connection with nature for their children. Self-directed play - inside and outside - are our main activities for all groups. Grade level children have the added dimension of time at the desk learning arithmetic, writing and recorder as well as handwork, potions, language arts and other specialty classes. Compassion with each other and the environment is encouraged."
Heartlight Montessori Homeschool (Big Island)
A small group of students aged 3-7 in the Montessori method led by teacher Miranda Lewtisky in Paahau (outside of Honokaa). Classes take place 8:30 - 2:30 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Follows DOE calendar.
